The Episcopal Diocese of the Dominican Republic (EDDR) is a diocese of the Episcopal Church of the United States situated in the Dominican Republic. It was founded in 1906 by Bishop Charles Henry Brent and covered the entire country. The diocese was initially composed of the four original churches founded by Brent and subsequently built up a network of over 50 churches across the country. History Charles Henry Brent, the first Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of the Dominion Republic, arrived in the Dominican Republic in 1906 with the aim of spreading the gospel and creating churches. Brent initially worked with the Anglican Archbishop of Jamaica and the Church of Jamaica. Encouraged by the Reverend Rupert Smith of the Jamaica Church, Brent gathered the four original churches in Santiago, the capital of the Dominican Republic. In 1913, St. Augustine's College was established in Santiago, developing into a seminary for the Episcopal Church in the Dominican Republic. The college provided leadership, education, pastoral and evangelistic training for the denomination's leaders.
