History:

The Parque Nacional Valle Nuevo, located in the Dominican Republic's northern mountain region, is one of the country's most important protected areas, used to maintain intact forest cover and conserve the biodiversity of the island's northern mountain range. It was designed to protect the unique and mostly untouched environment of the area that is still much like it was centuries ago.
