History:
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Volodymyr was established in New York City in 1949. At the time, it was the first such church in the U.S., founded by Greek and Ukrainian immigrants who had sought refuge in the country after fleeing the ravages of World War II. Since its foundation, the church has put a tremendous amount of energy into ministering to the Ukrainian-American community in the city. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in USA.

The Cathedral is located at 12 East 97th Street, near Central Park in Manhattan. The main altar was designed by famous architect and artist Igor Grabar, who was a prominent figure among Ukrainians living in the U.S. at the time. The Cathedral celebrated its 60th jubilee in 2009. It was redesignated a Cathedral in 1967, shortly after the merger of the Exarchate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the United States of America with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada-into the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA.

The Cathedral provides a variety of religious services, such as Liturgy, Vigil, Baptism and Funerals. It also has a numerous cultural and educational programs for both children and adults, such as lectures, workshops, and concerts. The Cathedral also provides social services such as assistance to new immigrants and refugees.This beautiful church in USA has made a lot of significance in the past.
