Thorncrown Chapel is a glass-paneled chapel located in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas just outside of Eureka Springs. It was designed by world-famous architect, E. Fay Jones, and completed in 1980. The chapel is renowned for its innovative architecture, which incorporates the surrounding trees and mountains. History:

Thorncrown Chapel was conceived in 1978, when Jim Reed, a retired businessman from Little Rock, purchased 4 acres of land near Eureka Springs. He asked architect E. Fay Jones to design a chapel that could seat up to 125 people. After two years of construction, the chapel was completed in 1980. Since its completion, Thorncrown Chapel has won numerous awards, including the American Institute of Architects’ award for excellence in 1981.
