The Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahri is an ancient Egyptian mortuary temple located in the Upper Egypt region of Luxor. The temple was built for the iconic female pharaoh, Hatshepsut, who reigned from 1479-1458 BCE and is considered one of the most successful rulers of the 18th dynasty. The temple is dedicated to the Egyptian gods Amun Ra, Horus, Hathor and Anubis and is one of the best-preserved monuments of ancient Egypt. The temple has been deemed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is currently the only remaining building belonging to Hatshepsut. It is one of the best churches in Egypt which you must visit.

History:

The Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahri was built during the 18th Dynasty of the New Kingdom era and is considered one of the most impressive monuments of ancient Egypt. It was built under the supervision of the pharaoh's chief architect Senenmut, and is believed to have taken over 15 years to complete. The temple is actually two temples, the lower temple and the upper temple, constructed on three terraces. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Egypt.
