St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church was founded in 1901, when the parish of St. Dominic's Church in San Francisco (founded in 1885) was split up into two churches: St. Dominic's and St. Thomas Aquinas. The new church was named in honor of the 'Angelic Doctor' St. Thomas Aquinas. The church was built on property adjacent to the original church and in 1907 it was dedicated. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in USA.
