The Pyramid of Neith at Saqqara is an unfinished pyramid of the mother of the pharaoh Pepi I and the fifth ruler of the Sixth Dynasty. It is located at Saqqara, in the necropolis of Memphis, Egypt, and is the only pyramid of its kind in Egypt. The pyramid has never been completed and is in an unfinished state. It consists of seven stepped layers of mudbrick and limestone and is thought to have been started by its builder, Imhotep, but abandoned due to some circumstances that are still unknown. It was discovered by Egyptian archaeologist Ahmed Kamal in the 1950s and it is thought to have been built sometime during the period of 2250 and 2150 BCE. The Pyramid of Neith at Saqqara is an important archaeological landmark in Egypt and has been designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Its location and discovery offer new insights into the construction of pyramids in ancient Egypt and the previous understanding of early pyramid building. The pyramid is also well-preserved and the layout of the structure reveals important aspects of the Egypts transition from the Old to the Middle Kingdom. The Pyramid of Neith at Saqqara is not open for public viewing, however, visitors are welcome to view it from a distance. The area is protected and no excavations are allowed. The pyramid is also regularly studied by archaeologists in order to gain insight into ancient Egypt and the history of pyramid building.
