Today, the museum is housed in a building constructed in the style of a royal palace dating back to 1800, and the collections span early archaeological finds through objects from the days of industrialization and up to the 21st century. Archaeological finds from the Stone Age and Bronze Age are of particular importance in the museum’s collections, as it played an important role in the establishment of archaeology as an academic field in Denmark’s.
