History:

Møllerup gods is a manor in the Danish municipality of Rønde, located in the East Jutland Region. The exact origins of Møllerup are not known but it is believed to have been first mentioned in a document from 1334. The estate has been in the hands of the same family since 1749 and it is currently owned by Count Christian Danneskiold-Samsøe. The property originally consisted of a manor house, a farm and some small buildings; the buildings included a mill and a windmill. Through the centuries, the estate grew and by 1800 the estate included three manor houses, a school, a big farm, and a number of other small buildings. Møllerup gods has been used as a summer residence for many prominent families throughout its history. In the 19th century, the estate was owned by the Berner family, a prominent banking and aristocratic family. Later in the 19th century, Mollerup Gods was inherited by Count Christian Danneskiold-Samsøe and his family. Count Christian Danneskiold-Samsøe and his family continued owning and managing the manor for generations. In 2009, the count gifted Møllerup Gods to his granddaughter, the current owner. The manor is open to visitors and provides activities which allow visitors to explore the estate and learn about its history.
