The Monument to the Battle of Crete is a memorial located on the Greek island of Crete that commemorates the Battle of Crete during World War II. The monument was erected in 1985, and was designed by sculptor Leonidas Drosis. The Battle of Crete was fought from May 20–31, 1941, between Allied forces (primarily Greeks and British) and invading forces from German-occupied Europe. Despite suffering significant casualties, including many Greek civilians, the Allied forces were able to evacuate 80,000 to 100,000 people from the island and disperse the defending forces.
