In its early years, Djurs Sommerland was a small family-run park with just three attractions. The park was originally called "Smukbo Sommerland" (or "Beautiful Summer Land") and was owned and operated by Hans H. Nielsen and his wife Inger. Over the years the park gradually grew in size and became more successful, and in 1987 it was renamed to Djurs Sommerland. Today Djurs Sommerland has more than 40 attractions, making it one of the biggest and most popular amusement parks in Denmark.
