Church of Saint Mary of Grace 'alle Fornaci' is a Roman Catholic parish church located in the historic center of Prato, Italy. It is the main church of the diocese of Prato and it has been the official church of the Grand Duke of Tuscany since the 16th century. The church dates back to the late 11th or early 12th century, and was designed in a Romanesque style, featuring typical elements like a central nave with two narrower aisles and an apse. The distinctive façade is of a late Gothic style and dates back to the 15th century. Throughout the centuries, it underwent various renovations, the most extensive one being in 1767-1771, when the interior and exterior were redesigned in a Baroque-Neoclassical style. The church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and contains several works of art from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Highlights include a wooden statue of the Virgin Mary from the 15th century and a wooden crucifix attributed to Michelangelo. The interior was further enriched in the 18th century with stucco and marble altars, as well as frescoes, many of which were painted by contemporary Italian painters. The church offers various services throughout the week, including weekday and Sunday Mass and various devotional activities.
