The Chapel of Benckiserstift was founded in 1896 by Colonel Otto von Benckiser. Von Benckiser was an officer of London's Royal Scots Dragoon Guards and had founded a girls-only school in Frankfurt in 1882. The school was later moved to Benckiserstift and was later called Chauncy Grey School. In 1895, von Benckiser gifted the plot of land and money to the Anglican Mission, who built the Chapel of Benckiserstift. In 1997, the chapel was partly renovated due to its historic and religious importance. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Germany.
