History:
It was built in 1388 by the Archbishop of Prague, John of Jenstein, as part of a pilgrimage site to replace the old parish church in Kutná Hora. Over the centuries, it underwent various structural changes, including the installation of Baroque vaults and side chapels. It was also damaged during the Napoleonic Wars. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Czechia.

St Barbara’s Cathedral is one of the best-preserved Gothic cathedrals in Central Europe. It features a wealth of intricate stone carvings, stained glass windows, and a spectacular interior. It is considered to be the most significant late Gothic church in the Czech Republic and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The cathedral houses some 20 chapels, including the Chapel of St Wenceslaus and the Chapel of St Barbara. It also provides services for baptisms, weddings, and funerals.
