The Basilica of St. James In Czechia is a Baroque church in Prague, Czech Republic, built in the 18th century. It is one of many churches dedicated to Saint James the Greater in Prague. The basilica was designed in the Baroque style by the architect K. I. Dientzenhofer. The interior is decorated with impressive frescoes, and the high altar is an exquisite example of Waldstein sculpture. It also houses a collection of valuable paintings, reliquaries and sculptures. It is one of the best churches in Czechia which you must visit.

History:

The basilica was built during the reign of Josephine's son and Empress Maria Theresa, and formally inaugurated with the performance of a Mass in 1755. The construction of the church was financially supported by the House of Waldstein, and the family still maintain a large role in the church today. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Czechia.
