History:
Rincón de la Vieja National Park is a national park in the Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica. The park protects an area of approximately 19,013 hectares of land and is located approximately 90 km (55 miles) northwest of San José and 32 km (20 miles) behind Liberia. The park is home to an impressive array of flora and fauna, including numerous birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, and micro-invertebrates. The park is known for its active volcano, as well as geysers, fumaroles, and numerous hot and cold springs. The park is also the largest area of volcanic activity in Costa Rica.
