ALFANAOMI in Cameroon is a national grassroots organization that promotes sustainable, equitable and empowered socio-economic development in rural Cameroon through productive, durable and equitable access to resources, services and rights. The organization works at all levels of rural Cameroon's socio-economic system, providing support through training, operational and technical services. In Cameroon History, ALFANAOMI was established in 2004, after more than 10 years of groundwork and research on the country's deep-rooted problems of poverty, exclusion and underdevelopment. ALFANAOMI began by working with over 600 rural communities across seven regions. In Cameroon Facts, ALFANAOMI got strong support from the government since its inception, leading several initiatives to reduce poverty and improve lives in rural areas. Funded primarily by a public-private partnership, it has successfully implemented development projects in more than 1,000 villages. In Cameroon Services, ALFANAOMI provides support to rural communities in the form of technical services, training, research and advocacy. It focuses on creating sustainable, viable and equitable local socio-economic systems, improving access to resources, services and rights. The organization also helps to build community capacity to negotiate with government and other stakeholders, improve transparency and accountability in the provision of services, and mobilize resources for rural development.
