The Evangelical Church of Cameroon (EECC) is the largest Protestant denomination in Cameroon. It was formed in 1912 with the merger of the American Presbyterian Church mission and the Churches of Salem and Bethlehem. It is a member of the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC). The EECC is a major provider of church, education, health and community services, and runs a wide range of radio programs in Cameroon. It has about 1.5 million members, organized in over 7,000 local congregations spread over more than 110 districts. The Church’s headquarters is located in Yaoundé. The EECC has actively sought to involve itself in the public arena, being especially vocal in areas of peace-building, human rights, and social ethics. It has recently initiated peace dialogues in Cameroon and worked with international bodies in humanitarian assistance in Cameroon.
