Église de Dieu en Christ, mennonite In Burkina Faso: History,Facts, & Services
Église de Dieu en Christ, mennonite (Church of God in Christ, Mennonite) is a group of churches that began in Europe in the 18th century with Anabaptist beliefs following the teachings of Menno Simons. It is a conservative Christian denomination and Church body represented in more than 30 countries with as many as 200,000 members in Africa, South and North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. The Church's name is derived from its emphasis on the Lordship of Christ, the Church of God, according to the New Testament and Mennonite traditions. Its main purpose is to provide an atmosphere of worship, fellowship and service.
The Church holds to a traditional view of the Bible, baptism by immersion of believers, non-resistant principles and the historic Mennonite faith. While the Churches members attempt to live out their faith—with personal dedication, humility and service—its main focus is on evangelistic outreach. Members believe in the importance of sharing their faith with all people.
Services at Église de Dieu en Christ include traditional Christian worship, Bible study, personal prayer, Sunday School classes, Sunday morning and evening services, and small group ministries. Sermons focus on the teachings of Jesus, emphasizing Christian living and spiritual growth. Members are expected to abstain from worldly activities and the use of intoxicating beverages and tobacco. The Church also offers outreach services including humanitarian aid, evangelism and missionary projects.
