History:

Belém Historic Center, also known as Old Town Belém or Cidade Velha, is an archaeological site located in the Pará state of Brazil. The area is significant for its cultural richness and is considered to be a major symbol of the colonial bondage resulting from the Portuguese exploration and expansion in the region. The historic center has a history that dates back to the 16th century when the area was first explored and developed by the Portuguese.
