United Congregational Church of Southern Africa In Botswana: History,Facts, & Services
The United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) is a Protestant Christian denomination in Southern Africa, of Reformed and United Church traditions. The denomination dates back to the formation of the London Missionary Society, which arrived in South Africa in 1799 and established the first churches in South Africa. The UCCSA traces its roots to the Congregational Church, which broke away from the Dutch Reformed Church in the Cape Colony in 1824. Throughout its history, the UCCSA has been committed to the struggle against apartheid, embracing the principles of racial equality and justice. Today, the UCCSA consists of congregations across South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho, Namibia, and Botswana. It offers a range of services, including family ministries, youth ministries, religious education, and gender justice. The UCCSA is a member of the World Communion of Reformed Churches and holds to the Apostles' Creed and Nicene Creed.
