The Lutheran Church in Southern Africa (LCSA) is a church body of predominantly German Lutheran Congregations within the Republic of South Africa, Namibia, and Botswana. The church is a member of the Lutheran World Federation, which has more than 70 million members worldwide. The LCSA is currently one of the largest Lutheran churches in the world.

History:
Lutheran missionaries from Prussia, the United States, and Germany started arriving in South Africa in the early 19th century. In 1875, the Lutheran mission was established as the South African Evangelical Lutheran Synod. In 1910, the synod was renamed the Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Africa and in 1953, it was re-established as the LCSA. In 1996, Namibia and Botswana were added to the LCSA's regional authority, providing it with a powerful base for evangelism and mission work across the whole of Southern Africa. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Botswana.
