African Apostolic Church is an independent Christian denomination that emerged from the beginnings of the Apostolic Church in East Africa in the late 19th century, which had its origins in the British-based 'Apostolic Church.' It is considered to be a part of the Pentecostal tradition, due to its strong emphasis on the gifts of the Spirit, worship, prophetic ministry, evangelism, prayer and holiness.

History:
The history of the African Apostolic Church can be traced back to the 1890s when three mission churches from England and Wales, the Welsh Apostolic Church, the Glad Tidings Tabernacle and the Pentecostal Missionary Church, arrived in East Africa and began to establish congregations. These congregations formed the basis of what is now called the African Apostolic Church. Under the leadership of Welsh Apostles, the mission churches quickly spread throughout the region, bringing in members by the thousands and establishing new churches in multiple countries. By the 1930s, the African Apostolic Church had become a fully autonomous denominational group and has since gone on to establish a presence in over 15 countries across Africa. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Botswana.
