History:

Chelela Pass trek was first done in 2002 by pioneering trekkers from Bhutan. The trek was done over an extended period of time and proved to be a true adventure. Today, the trek is one of the most popular treks in Bhutan, with it becoming more and more popular each year. The trek begins at Paro, at the bottom of the Paro Valley. From here the trek route takes you across two passes, Dochu La and Chelela, and then winds around the valley, over mountains and forests, and through remote villages. At over 3,977 metres above sea level, it is the highest pass in Bhutan.
