The church was built in 1906 by the Permeke Brothers and is considered one of the finest examples of Art Nouveau architecture in Brussels. The church was consecrated in 1924 and is one of the oldest churches in the city. The design of the Église du Saint-Sacrement is based on the Gothic Revival style, with notable features such as its stepped towers and rose window. Its original façade was designed in a Gothic-Baroque style, while the current façade was constructed in the 1920s with a more modern style. The church's interior is ornately decorated in a Byzantine Byzantine Revival style, and includes many sculptures and murals depicting scenes from the Bible. The church is home to a large crucifix that was installed by Pope Paul VI during his visit in 1976. The church offers Mass every day, as well as baptisms, confirmations, weddings, and funerals.
