Walibi Belgium is a family theme park located in Wavre, Belgium, which was first opened in 1975 as “Walibi Wavre”. The park was originally known as “Le Blije Duin” or “the Happy Valley”, but with its opening in 1975, the name was changed to Walibi Wavre. The park made major investments in the 1980s and 1990s, adding world class roller coasters and other rides over the following two decades. The expansion of the park during this period of time is credited with increasing the appeal of the park and helping to make it one of Belgium’s premier attractions. In 1997, the park became the first in Europe to host a Bolliger & Mabillard inverted roller coaster, and it currently hosts five Bolliger & Mabillard roller coasters, which garner rave reviews from fans. In 2000, the park became part of the Six Flags chain of parks, and the park was given a major facelift, including the construction of new pavilions and attractions. In 2016, the park returned to being called Walibi Belgium.
