History:

IBC Antwerp was established in 1963 under the name of Petroleum undchemiesehandel Zeebrugge, a private initiative of a Belgian marine engineer. In 1969, the company changed its name to Petroleum undchemiesehandel (Punchemp) and was listed on the Brussels stock exchange. Punchemp’s main objective was to import and export petroleum and chemicals to and from the world’s oil and chemical markets. In 1983, Punchemp split into two subsidiaries. The first, focused on petroleum and chemicals products, became known as Interpetroleum (IP). The second, focused on other products, became known as Interchemie (IC). In 1987, this second subsidiary was merged with Petroleum Handelmaatschappij voor Nederland (PHN) to form International Petroleum Centre of Antwerp (IPCA).
