Construction of the cathedral started between 1617 and 1621, built upon the site of a Roman basilica. It was completed in 1760 with the addition of the nave and the towers at the main entrance. The facade consists of two 60 meter towers flanking the main entrance, and two more 39 meter towers next to the apse. The central nave is 30 meters long, with side aisles 7 meters wide.
