History:
Construction began on the church in 1766, when Tsarina Catherine the Great commissioned renowned Italian architects Giacomo Quarenghi and Pietro Antonio Trezzini. The church was opened in 1771 and was originally dedicated to the Nativity of Jesus Christ. In 1806, it was re-dedicated to Saint Nicholas. Tserkov' Svyatogo Nikolaya This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Belarus.
