Chasovnya-Usypal'nitsa Drutskikh-Lyubetskikh In Belarus: History,Facts, & Services

Chasovnya-Usypal'nitsa Drutskikh-Lyubetskikh is a historical and architectural monument of national importance which stands on the eastern bank of the Svislach River in the village of Drutsk, in the Grodno region of Belarus. The structure was built during the late 16th century, as an Orthodox bell tower and watchtower. It rises to a height of 22 metres (72 feet) and combines elements of Renaissance, Baroque and classical styles. The structure also houses an icon museum and a prayer room. It is considered to be an important symbol of the town, serving as a national historic memorial and attracting visitors from all over the country. Its exact history is not known, but it is believed to have been founded in the late 15th century by a local magnate, in devotion to St. Nicholas, the patron saint of the Drutsk-Lugansk area.
