History:
St. Mary’s Church in Barbados was first built in 1645 in the city of Bridgetown. This Anglican Church is built on the Bay Street, where it stands today. Historically, it was one of the first churches to be built in the Caribbean by the English settlers. The original building was destroyed by a hurricane in 1780, with the current structure being built in 1784. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Barbados.
