The Shingair Jame Mosque is a classic example of Islamic architecture in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It has a four-aisled rectangular prayer hall aligned north-south, with an elevated platform and seven steps, and a dome over the central aisle. The prayer hall has aqvis (divided chambers) running along its four sides. These aqvis are constructed separately and are connected to the main prayer hall by means of passages, forming a series of interconnecting chambers. The interior is decorated with conventional Islamic floral designs and verses written from the Quran. The mosque has four minarets, three of which are still standing and one collapsed. The mosque also has four corner towers which were added in the 19th century and a pond in front of the mosque. The mosque is surrounded by a compound wall.
