Sevanavank In Armenia is an ancient monastery built in 874 AD, standing on the north-western shore of Lake Sevan. A stone cross surrounded by a spiral staircase is the main feature of the complex, which also consists of a chapel, a gavit, a small courtroom and some auxiliary structures. The monastery played an important role in medieval Armenian population as a spiritual and educational center. The period of its greatest prosperity came with the Bagratuni Dynasty in the 9th and 10th centuries. Sevanavank is considered one of the most beautiful monastic complexes in Armenia, and traveled among pilgrims, pilgrims, students and merchants. It is considered a symbol of Armenian culture, faith and history and is a tourist attraction especially during summer when the lake is low enough for it to be almost completely visible. The services provided by the monastery included prayers, educational activities and hospitality for the pilgrims, including food, rest, as well as medical care.
