All Saviors In Armenia: History,Facts, & Services
All Saviors In Armenia is an Armenian Shrines Council project devoted to unifying Armenian religious, cultural and historical sites across Armenia. The project was started in 2002 by Catholicos of All Armenian Garegin II and Vazgen I (1932–2010). It includes churches, monasteries, sanctuaries, chapels and other related sites, covering 7,500 such sites across Armenia. It is aimed at promoting understanding and awareness of the spiritual and cultural heritage of Armenia.
History
The project was initially known as the "Sovereign State Program of All Saviors in Armenia". It was started in 2002 with the aim of uniting the spiritual, cultural and historical heritage of Armenia through conservation and restoration of Armenian sites in Armenia. The program was funded by the Armenian government and the European Union, and supported by donations from the charitable organizations.
