St. Francisco de Asís Church is a Catholic church located in the colonial city of Cartagena, Colombia. It dates back to the early 17th century when Jesuit priests and Spanish colonizers arrived in the Caribbean port city. The church is known for its Baroque-style architecture and remarkable copper reredos which dominates its façade. The church is dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of Cartagena. History:

The original church was built between 1602 and 1678 as a Jesuit mission and its construction was supervised by Jesuit priest Juan Bautista Donato. In the mid 1700s, Donato's successor Pedro Manso carried out renovations and added many new features including the altarpiece, two side chapels, the pulpit and several other ornamental elements. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Argentina.
