The foundation of the Basilica Maria Auxiliadora & San Carlos dates back to 1933, when the Italian-Hispanic Congregation of Saint Charles Borromeo (San Carols) was founded. During the foundation ceremony, the Archbishop of Valencia, Gustavo Morosini, blessed the corner stone of what would become the first building of the Church. The construction of the main chapel finished in 1940 and the Asuncion Parroquial (parish church) was subsequently built. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Argentina.
