History:

Codrington Village is a small but historical fishing village located on the eastern tip of the Caribbean island of Antigua-and-Barbuda. According to legend, the village was named after a Barbadian pirate named Captain Christopher Codrington who had a habit of using the village as a secret hideout for his booty. The village began life as an early 18th century settlement in the mid-1760s and was inhabited by small landholders who were mainly of African and Carib descent. The village was a strategically important location at the time due to its location at the entrance of the sea channel dividing the islands of Antigua and Barbuda.
