Worship Method:
The temple of Lord Anantha Padmanabha Swamy is one of the oldest and most sacred and revered temples in Andhra Pradesh. The temple follows a strict and unique method of worship. The most important feature of the temple is that the worship is carried out in the "Samprokshanam" style (auspicious offering to God). The morning pooja begins with the temple priests reciting stotras and chanting mantras in praise of the Lord before offering the first flowers to the deity and praying for the devotees. The flowers are then sprinkled on the deity and the aarti performed. Afterwards, the priests perform several pujas including Abhishekam (offerings of water and holy liquids on the deity), Panchamritam (mixture of milk, curd, honey and sugar), Ashta Kalasham (pouring of water from eight copper pots, considered necessary to reduce or remove the eight sins of life), and Kalasha Pooja (worship of the copper pot containing Lord Venkateshwara's image). After this pooja, the devotees break coconuts and chant mantras. After aarti, special archana (chanting of special mantras for life long success and prosperity) is performed followed by counting of the offerings, distribution of Prasadam, and anna dhanam (donation of food items). Finally, the devotees seek the Lord's blessings and depart from the temple after offering flower petals. This most visited temple in Andhra-Pradesh
