Brief History:
The Médéa Mosque is a historic mosque located in Médéa, Algeria. It dates back to the 11th century, when it was built by the Zirids, a dynasty from Tunisia. It is one of the oldest mosques in the country and is an example of the early Islamic architecture. The current building, which underwent various renovations, is a rectangular plan surrounded by an arcade of horseshoe arches. The walls are made of lime mortar, stone and wood and above the walls and corners of the building are corner minarets. The mosque has several domes and an arcade of arches and its walls are decorated with white, blue and green tiles. Inside, the prayer hall is topped by a magnificent cupola. It is one of the most famous mosque in Algeria which you must visit.

Built in 1790 by the Algerian ruler Ahmed Bey of Algiers, the mosque is notable for its unique architecture which incorporates both Arab and French influences. The mosque has a square minaret built in the style of Arab mosques, as well as a tower built in the style of French cathedrals. The mosque is decorated with marmoreal, stucco, and ceramics, with a large dome topped by a crescent. The outer walls are decorated with a mix of Islamic and French motifs. Inside, a large dome covers the prayer area, with tall arcades behind it. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
