The current mosque dates from 1133 AD although its original foundation dates back to the 9th century. The entrance to the mosque is located in the center of a large portico built on four columns. The sides of the portico are covered with a plaster coating. On top of the portico is a cone-shaped minaret with green colored ceramic tiles. The mosque also features a large courtyard surrounded by columns and pillars.
