KIsha Fjetja e Shën Marisë In Albania: History,Facts, & Services

Kisha Fjetja e Shën Marisë is one of the oldest churches in Njësi, Albania. Construction of the church began in 1688 and was completed in 1756. Kisha Fjetja e Shën Marisë was constructed during the Ottoman period and is considered a notable example of Ottoman art and architecture in Albania. The two-story church contains three aisles, two balconies, and a wooden dome. There is an entrance on the first floor, and a stone staircase gives access to the second floor. The walls of the church are adorned with historic and religious paintings that were created in the 19th century. The paintings depict Biblical scenes, saints, and the life of Jesus. Kisha Fjetja e Shën Marisë serves as a spiritual center for the local community, providing religious services and activities, as well as community events. It also serves as a cultural center and houses a library, an archive of traditional music and art, and a museum where visitors can explore the history of the area. The church is still in use today and is open to visitors of all faiths.
