Црква Свети Петар (Church Saint Peter) is an Orthodox Christian church located in Skopje, North Macedonia. It is the oldest church in Skopje and is believed to have been founded in the 11th century by Emperor Basil II in honor of the Apostle Peter. The church has undergone several renovations over the centuries due to war, earthquakes and fires. In the 18th century a new chapel dedicated to St Peter was added. The modern look of the church was achieved in 1847 and it is fresco masterpiece by Mihail Angelic, who is renowned as North Macedonia’s greatest Iconographer. The church is revered as a national symbol and is visited by thousands of pilgrims every year. The church offers many services including baptism, weddings and memorial services. It also has an active community outreach service providing assistance to the needy in the area.
