Plas Teg is a Jacobean country house in the village of Pontblyddyn, Flintshire, Wales. It was built by Sir John Trevor, Speaker of the House of Commons, in 1610–1611.The house was built in a plain, but symmetrical, style with a central hall and a large courtyard to the east. The house has a symmetrical facade with two storeys and an attic, and three oriel windows. Internally, the house retains a high proportion of its original Jacobean features, including elaborate fireplaces and panelling.Plas Teg was the birthplace of Sir Thomas Trevor in 1658, who was a prominent lawyer of the day. He was High Sheriff of Flintshire in 1700 and also represented Flint twice in the House of Commons. In 1710, during the reign of Queen Anne, Plas Teg passed to Thomas Myddelton of Chirk Castle, who was also an MP. On his death, it was inherited by his daughter, Ursula, who married the Prince of Wales in 1721. From 1840 the house was the home of the Glynne-Holford family, who held possession until the death of Sir Stephen Glynne-Holford in 1944. During their ownership, the Plas Teg estate grew from an earliest estimated acreage of 500 to 2,000 acres. Today, Plas Teg is owned by the National Trust and has undergone extensive repair and conservation work.
