The château was originally constructed in the 14th century and has since served as a private residence, a hunting lodge, a spa, and a restaurant. It is believed that he built a manor house on the property at this time. The estate passed through many hands over the centuries before it was acquired by a branch of the Négondes family in 1595. They added a wing to the property and maintained ownership until the 18th century.In 1766, Pierre de Pichard inherited the château from his father who had acquired the estate several years prior. At this time, the château consisted of a two-story building with four wings. Pierre had the building renovated and added a fifth wing. In 1780, Pierre used the château as a hunting lodge and it remained in the Pichard family until 1859 when it was acquired by the Favraux family.During World War II, the château was occupied by German Army officers and suffered extensive damage.
