It all began with the fog. But, unfortunately, the curse had already been cast upon them and as the old woman spoke a loud, thunderous roar shook the villagers to their core. The curse had been set in motion and no one was safe.The days and nights blurred together as the village of Crèvecoeur-en-Auge was enveloped by the darkness that had taken hold of the Château de Crèvecoeur. Strange occurrences began to take place and many of the villagers began to disappear. Animals were found mutilated and drained of their blood nearby. It became apparent that the horror which had taken such a strong hold of the Château had spread to the village.The villagers were aware that the only way to rid themselves of the dark force haunting the Château was to break its grasp from the Countess’ soul but no one knew how. It seemed as if the terror was never going to end until one brave soul decided to take matters into their own hands.The brave soul, covered from head to toe in a thick white cloth, ventured into the Château. Overcoming all of their fears, this brave soul braved the darkness and lifted the heavy burden from the Countess’ soul. Instantly, the terror was lifted from the village and the Château de Crèvecoeur no longer held its cursed power.To this day, it is said that the hooded figures still appear in the village every night. But these figures are no longer a symbol of fear and terror. Instead, they remind the villagers of the bravery of one individual and their victory against the darkness.

The Château de Crèvecoeur-en-Auge is a castle located in the commune of Crèvecoeur-en-Auge in France's Calvados department. The castle was originally built in the 12th century by the Crevecoeur family, one of the most important families in Normandy. At its height, the castle was one of the most heavily fortified castles in Normandy, due to its thick walls and towers.In 1345, the castle was attacked by Henry III of England, who captured it and began demolishing parts of it. However, the castle was restored by the Crevecoeur family, who owned it until 1587, when it was sold to Pierre de Bellefouchon. After his death, it was sold to Gilles de Bellefouchon in 1645.
