The Château de La Barben is a medieval castle located in the commune of La Barben, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department of France. The castle is situated close to the French town of Salon-de-Provence.
The castle is believed to have been constructed during the 10th century, when it first appears in records. It is believed to have been founded by the Counts of Forcalquier, powerful local nobles. During the following centuries, the castle’s position was strengthened, with multiple towers added. In 1357, the castle was seized by the local ruling Duke of Anjou. By the 15th century, the castle had grown to its present size and form, and it was then passed to Roger de Monetay, who subsequently remodelled the castle in the Renaissance style. The castle then passed to numerous other aristocrats, including the Lascours, the Grimauds and Yves Chastan.
