History & Information of Thun Panorama, Thun
, Switzerland
Thun Panorama is a popular tourist attraction in the city of Thun, Switzerland. The gallery takes visitors on a journey through the history of the city and the surrounding area. Constructed in 2000, it contains 18 original oil paintings of the area by Aimé Courvoisier, who spent much of his life in Thun.
The paintings were collected by notable photographer Andreas Züblin who, at the age of 60, decided to undertake an ambitious project for the people of Thun. Starting in 1996, just before the turn of the 20th century, he spent four years collecting the paintings, which depicted the area before the modern development that followed in the 1960's. The paintings show a peaceful, rural landscape, capturing the beauty of the local countryside and its people.
After collecting the paintings, Züblin began work on building the Panorama gallery. The museum is constructed inside an old building that was once used as a slaughterhouse, and is built in the style of an old-fashioned farmhouse, complete with wooden planks and coats of arms. The entrance hall contains a large, panoramic painting of the Thun area, while each of the side rooms contain the original oil paintings that were collected by Züblin.
Today, the Thun Panorama is extremely popular with both tourists and locals alike. It serves as a reminder of the beauty of the Thun countryside, as well as a tribute to Züblin's passion for preserving the history of the area.If you want to visit one of the most haunted places in the world, you must visit it here
