The Museum pays homage to the Brazilian Expeditionary Force (FEB) that was sent to fight and help liberate Italy during World War II. The Museum is located in the Pedro Augusto de Oliveira Veterans' Estate of Curitiba, and covers an area of approximately 5,000 m². It contains various military artifacts and documents related to the expeditionary forces, including weapons, uniforms, photos and documents.
The Museum was founded by Decree 5.308/2006, and the Paraná State Federal Senate approved funds to construct its facilities. It opened in June 2007, with an exhibition of paintings and sculptures created by Brazilian war veterans. The Museum has since become an important part of the cultural and historical landscape of Curitiba, and has hosted a number of educational and cultural activities. It also houses a museum shop with books, souvenirs and other artifacts related to the FEB.
The Museu do Expedicionário is home to the Escola de Artilharia (Artillery School), which is aimed at teaching children and young adults about weapons used during the Second World War.
