The Château de Chenaux is a castle located in the commune of Chenaux in the Canton of Vaud in Switzerland. The castle is situated in the village of Chenaux, at the foot of the Grand Bovernaz.
History
The castle of Chenaux was built in the 13th century. It was initially held by the noble family of Seyssel, who also held the nearby Castle of Jougne. The Seyssel family maintained the castle until 1550 when it was sold to the Clair family. In 1630, the castle was inherited by the family of Pally who kept the castle until 1736 when it was sold to the family of Besançon.
In 1767, the castle was acquired by Jean Heroult, who remodeled the castle in the classical 18th century style. After Jean's death in 1809, the castle passed to his son François-Xavier, who later sold it to his brother-in-law Olivier de Grandson. Olivier's descendants kept the castle until 1927 when it was acquired by the Swiss Federal Railways. The castle was then used as a hunting lodge until 1985 when it was acquired by the Municipality of Chenaux.
Today, the Château de Chenaux is a popular tourist attraction and is open to visitors throughout the year.

The château is built in the style of the 16th Century. The main building is a two-story rectangular building with a high pitched roof. The main hall is decorated with Renaissance style frescoes and the windows have fitted with stone cresting. There is also an openwork gallery on the south side of the building.
