The Federal Institute of Industrial Research Staff Quarters (FIISQ) is located in Oshodi, Lagos, Nigeria. It was originally established in 1946, as a residential colony for research staff and their families associated with the Federal Institute of Industrial Research (FIIR), which was founded two years earlier.The institute was initially founded to provide research & consultancy services to the Nigerian government and industry in the areas of manufacturing, engineering, science, technology and industrial management. In the course of its activities, FIIR also produced highly specialized personnel who were employed as research staff or lecturers and thus required living accommodations. To meet this need, FIIR established the Staff Quarters in Oshodi in 1946.In the early 1950s, the institute also established a weaving unit onsite in order to make further use of the limited resources available. The weaving unit was equipped with new looms and machinery, and staff were trained to produce locally woven fabrics and other textile products for sale.The Staff Quarters are currently managed and maintained by an operating company set up by the Federal Institute of Industrial Research and the Federal Ministry of Science & Technology.
